The Invisalign® Process
The Invisalign® process begins with a consultation to confirm that you are a good candidate for treatment. We will take X-rays, photographs and impressions of your teeth, which Invisalign® uses to create a 3-D image of them.
Invisalign® makes a series of aligners to address your unique treatment needs. They are made from medical-grade, durable plastic. You typically receive three sets of aligners at each appointment. The aligners are worn for approximately two weeks at a time before graduating to the next set in the series. Aligners are worn 20-22 hours per day throughout treatment.
One aspect of Invisalign® that Dr. Youssef is particularly fond of is that all treatment information is stored digitally. Some patients will lose their retainers at some point. Once Invisalign® treatment is complete, the final mold of the orientation of your teeth is kept on file for life. That means an aligner is easily replaced if it’s ever lost. As long as you wear your retainers periodically, you shouldn’t have to go through treatment again. Therefore, immediately replacing a missing or broken aligner is important.
Patient, Before & After Photos®
Invisalign Teen® achieves the same results as Invisalign®, but includes a few modifications to meet the unique needs of teenagers:
- Compliance indicators- Invisalign® treatment works only when the aligners are worn as prescribed. Blue dots on Invisalign Teen® aligners gradually fade with wear so patients, parents and dentists know that the aligners are worn as directed.
- Replacement aligners- Active teens may find that they have misplaced an aligner here and there. Invisalign Teen® provides up to six replacement aligners for free.
- Room for growth- Teen aligners provide room for the natural eruption of second molars
This is a five-stage treatment for patients who have minor alignment issues such as mild crowding or spacing, or the early stages of orthodontic relapse due to discontinued retainer use.
